This blond ale was aged in a combination of rye whiskey and port-finished bourbon barrels for 14 months with diastatic yeast before being blended with cherry juice, merlot grape must and aromatic spices.

On tap at Dageraad. Pours clear orange with a white head. Tons of rye and bourbon on the nose; some sweet port notes as well. Flavour has tons of bourbon and rye barrels, nice accents from the port, some estery sweetness. The barrels don't seem particularly well-calibrated and I'm not sure the base is strong enough to support the booziness provided by the barrels. It's not terrible, but it definitely needs a bit of work.

375mL bottle sampled at Weathered 2023, pours a clear amber with a small white head. Aroma brings out lots of cocktails, a hint of grape, bourbon, and some spices. Flavour is boozy and messy, with lots of bourbon-y, port-like rum barrels, and some grape. Messy and boozy. Harsh but not terrible.

Poured from 375mL bottle. Clear light amber with small white head. Woody, rye whiskey, feint bourbon and port quality. Reminds me a little of Tempest Barrel 04 Sidecar. Like the Sidecar, I appreciate the cocktail inspiration of this, but do I really want it in a beer as opposed to just having the cocktail?

375ml @ Ryan's shared with Alex. Appearance: a bit hazy pale copper with a white head. Aroma: smells like a cocktail for sure, some barrel notes. Taste: along the same lines. Overall: meh, people need to stop doing cocktail-inspired beers IMHO.

Slight haze, dullish amber, thin head. Fruity aroma, reflecting esters, and a touch of whisky character. Soft body, low bitterness. Finishes with a splash of alcohol. For me this is an odd concept that doesn’t really come together.
