A Rosé Grape Ale, aged on cab franc skins from the 2018 harvest, then barrel aged for 2 years, then bottle conditioned for a year! This is one of the oldest beers we’ve ever released, but don’t be fooled by age – Roseale is a bright and vibrant sparkling experience. This project was an experiment in REVERSE barrel aging (?!?!?). We racked beer that was aged briefly on grape skins into barrels and left it there for 2 years (we usually do the reverse, putting already barrel-aged beer onto grape skins). What does it taste like? Structured sparkling watermelon & lychee jolly rancher rosé. If you like cold watermelon, fruity sorbet, and swimming pools with floaty toys, you’ll dig Roseale.

Bottle: Poured a deep reddish/purple-ish color ale with a small foamy head with limited retention and minor lacing. Aroma of fresh grapes notes with some light funky ester and some tart notes. Taste is a mix of fresh grape notes with some fruity notes, some tart notes with some funky ester and oak/vinous notes. Body is full with good carbonation. Enjoyable grape based wild ale with plenty of complex flavors.

375ml (thx, Peter K.!) @ Matt's new place. Appearance: rose ish golden with a white head. Aroma: funky, buggy, grapy. Taste: along the same lines, almost no acidity in here (surprise! first time in my life I would like to get more acidity in my beer!). Quite a tannic finish. It's very interesting that it has a quite nice lambic funk in the early and middle finish that lasts for 1-2 minutes after you swallow the beer. Overall: a real nice one.

Bottle August 2020. 375mL bottle, pours a hazy dull golden with a small white head. Aroma brings out red grape skins, some bugs, and a touch of oak. Flavour reveals crisp grape skins, wild yeast, and oak. Dry, buggy, vinous, and cohesive. Excellent.
