A full bodied Porter. Bursting with chocolate, caramel and vanilla malt flavours rounded off with bitterness provided by traditional English hops. At 5.0%, a black beer which will delight the connoisseur

500ml bottle from Newstead Abbey Cafe, Nottingham. Black colour, beige foam head leaving lacing and aroma of chocolate, roast malt, smokey. Taste is burnt smokey roasted malts, chocolate, dark fruits, vanilla, with some bitter notes. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, dry tangy roasted bitterness at the finish. Quite drinkable.

Cask-conditioned at the Nottinghamshire beer festival, Seven Stars, Bristol March 2012. Near black with a decent, off-white head. Aromas of plain chocolate and berry fruit with a touch of roastiness. Flavour had more chocolate and fruit with a dryish finish. Very good.
