Historical. Oak. Tart. Refreshing.
This beer is our take on a historical German style beer from Thuringia in Northern Germany. It is brewed on a base of Weyermann pilsner malt with equal additions of wheat and beech smoked wheat malts and a touch of oak smoked wheat and acidulated malts. The result is a low ABV, refreshingly tart beer with subtle oak and beechwood smoke.

On tap at the brewery. Clear golden with small white head. Some smoke in aroma, grainy, light fruity notes, some tartness. Light bodied.

Quite pale, thin head, green apple and a bit of smoke. Light tartness, mild smoke, more green apple. Seems not right.

On tap at Stoup, pours a clear blonde with a small white head. Aroma reveals gentle smoke, soft wheatiness, and toasted grains. Flavour is very lightly smoky, with light wheaty notes and straw. Could do with more smoke. It's dry and drinkable but nothing exciting.
