This Piquette Ale collab with Pamplemousse Jus Natural Winery in Summerland, BC was a prime pick for a Garage Series treatment.
We started with a Berliner Weisse base and put it through a second fermentation in neutral Chardonnay & Sauvignon Blanc barrels. We then headed to the Okanagan where Pamplemousse pressed freshly harvested Pinot Noir from their St. Katherinas vineyard before returning to Main St. with some of the pomace.
After a quick 72-hour contact time for ideal tannin structure and extraction, the beer barrel-aged for two months. The resulting ale is bright & bubbly with floral & lychee aromas, flavours of baked rhubarb & rich strawberry.

500mL bottle, pours a hazy bright dark rose red with a small white head. Aroma is loaded with wild critters, plenty of funk, grape pomace, and wine barrels. Flavour is buggy and vinous, with a pretty in-your-face grape pomace character, tons of brett funk, and some more oaky, vinous, tannic notes. Vibrant, fairly complex, and well-rounded. Maybe not the most refined wild grape ale, but very nicely done. Good one, Main Street. This is apparently what they can accomplish if they try.
