Feral Fox is a blended, barrel aged, tart wild ale with apricot.

FF started its life as a barrel aged sour red beer, which spent 3 years in port barrels. Early last summer, we transferred that beer from barrel, and blended in an equal volume of fresh, aggressively hoppy strong beer, and let the wild yeast from barrels ferment that beer down further before adding a hefty dose of apricot, canning and can-conditioning.

Complex, bold, tart-not-sour, very fruit forward and aromatic, this is a super interesting beer. It's our anniversary, we're not gonna NOT have a complicated barrel aged beer.

Can, at Matt's
Orange colour, hazy to cloudy. Smells like ass, and some stone fruit. Luckily there is some residual sweetness, it complements well the acidity, and the fruit; there's a bit of funk, bugs.
Good.

16oz (thx, Matt's friend, hehe!) @ Matt's house. Appearance: murky with a white head. Aroma: some light acetone, fruity, oak, some nice fruits. Taste: along the same lines, tart, quite acidic with noticeable acetone. Overall: it may be complex, but I would appreciate it less acidic and acetony.

16oz can. Pours hazy orange yellow. Aroma is tart, some apricot. Flavour is very juicy; quite acetic with notes of grapefruit and apricot and port barrels; some woody dryness. Quite a bit of vinegar, but not overly dominating. Really quite good.

473mL can, pours a cloudy dark apricot-y orange with a small white head. Aroma brings out lots of bright apricots upfront, gentle port barrels, and a touch of bugs. Flavour is quite juicy, with lots of apricots, followed by boozy barrels, and some bugs. Acidity is there but not too intrusive. Really great juiciness, accentuated well by the barrels. Very good.

Sort of a murky pale amber. No head. Really nice apricot aroma, lots of barrel, with a good woody dryness. There's a bit of phenol, something maybe slightly overripe, but solid complexity. Tart, juicy, and with a good finish.
