A collaborative blend series from Block 15 and Hair of the Dog encompassing the spirit and creativity of both breweries - 2018 Bourbon Barrel Cherry Chocolate Stout and our Super Nebula base, then steeped with wild harvest, fair trade cocoa nibs, and cherries. This year's annual imperial stout release was matured in George Dickel and Willett bourbon barrels and conditioned on wild harvest, fair trade Bolivian cocoa nibs specially selected to complement its decadent character.

500mL bottle. Pours nearly black with a tan head. Rich roasted malts, dark chocolate, bourbon, dark sugars, and a touch of dark cherries on the nose. Flavour has an excellent roasted malt base, charred wood, burnt sugars, loads of bourbon, and some dark cherry accents. Deep and rich; this is excellent.

500ml (thx, Brian!) @ Sales Force. Appearance: dark brown with a beige head. Aroma: those weird meaty notes from some bourbon barrels, a bit of roasty notes, and little sweetness. Cherries. Taste: American oak, lots of cherries, roasty. Overall: ok.

Dark toffee, cocoa aroma, light cherry, this smells intense. On the palate, it is quite rich…bitter chocolate and the cherry blasts through with fruit and acidity, before finishing with a bit of coffee. Bright bourbon lends some punch to the finish, and it all comes together quite well.

On tap at Chuck's CD, pours black with a small tan head. Aroma is complex, with tart cherry, bourbon barrels, cocoa, and molasses. Flavour is rich, with tons of molasses, cheeey and bourbon barrels in good cohesion. I usually don't like fruit anywhere my impie stouts, but in this case — with two excellent brewers — this work. Very good.
