Brewed with our friends at Brouwer's Cafe and Virgil Gamache Farms, this strong, hoppy beer is made with four different malts and a pair of hops that together lend notes of nutty toffee, baking spices, and dark cherry. To add to its complexity, we rested it in Heaven Hill barrels for a full year.

Malts: Pale, Melanodin, Simpsons DRC, Chocolate Rye
Hops: Amarillo, Chinook

On tap at Brouwer's Cafe, pours a deep dark brown / black with a small tan head. Aroma is full of bourbon barrels upfront, with brown sugar and some caramel. Flavour is mostly a function of the bourbon barrels upfront, followed by brown sugar, molasses, toffee and alcohol. Much better than the base beer that was released for last year's event, but still rough around the edges. The bourbon really rounds out some of the rougher edges and adds plenty of depth. But it's still not the most immaculate BA barley wine. Good.
