An extra big IPA in an extra tall can. This Hazy Double IPA features Mosaic, Citra and a heavy dose of HBC 586 known for its distinct Guava notes. Cheers to big, strong, flavourful beers!

568mL can, pours an opaque blonde with a small white head. Aroma is rather muffled, with light chalk, earthiness, but little hop aromatics. Flavour has some allium, stone fruit pith, earthy hops, and bready malt. Rather muffled, with some stone fruit pith and muddled hops on the finish. Clumsy and incompetent. Not good.

Opaque, pale, thick head. Orangey nose, light lychee, stone fruit and melon. So a good mix of hops and it comes together well with sweet pale malt. Medium bitterness, lots of malt but it’s clean and bright. Some of the best malt expression from Field House I’ve had. There’s a good melon character here, quality cantaloupe. So label says Hbc 586 is more guava and I can go there, but I drink the Filipino guava juice cans regularly and I’m telling you this is cantaloupe. Alcohol is all but disguised. I love how they’re going for that US gas station tall “get you in trouble at the end of the night” can but it’s one of the best IPAs they’ve made and better than whatever Voodoo Ranger variant you bought at the Shell station last night.

Poured from 568mL can. Hazy blonde with small white head. Lots of melon hops, some mild tropical citrus notes, hint of alcohol on the finish. Decent.

Can from The Gull, North Vancouver
Pale blond colour, cloudy. Wow aroma, loaded with melon, gooseberries, touch of tropical fruits too. It's dry, lean, a bit starchy; the malt base is too simple, it doesn't give much; the hopping is good, but could have been brightened up by some sweetness; alcohol and gentle hop burn interlace in the finish. Very good.
