Brewed with chocolate and peanut butter. This special 36th anniversary beer was inspired by the signature dessert at our original brew pub in Bend, Oregon: the peanut butter pie. Dig into this decadent bourbon barrel-aged brew with notes of dark chocolate and creamy peanut butter dolloped with a sweet vanilla cream. Cheers to 36 years!

Reviewed from notes.
Bottle to snifter.
Appearance: black pour and black in the glass with a quarter finger of khaki foamy head which dissolved nicely to leave some light lace
Aroma: milk chocolate, dark chocolate and barrel/woody scent, light coffee roast with light vanilla notes then super light peanuts
Flavor: blends the prior noted aromas together in a fair toasty to roasty and sweet nutty to chocolatey quality; finishes toasty, chocolatey and coffee-like
Texture: medium bodied, good sipper; clean smoothness and a touch of a nutty dry edge
Overall: wasn't really peanut buttery to me, more like toasted salted nuts which were super faint, still this was well brewed and I could return to this.

12 ounce bottle from Tavour. Opaque dark brown color topped by. Finger-high puffy tan head. Aroma of roasted malt, chocolate and a hint of peanuts. Flavor is big and boozy. Notes of dark chocolate, peanut butter and oak. Very smooth and flavorful. The peanut butter is subtle. Finishes with a big, bitter bang.

This will be my first Black Butte to rate in a few years, just have not seen one until I picked up XXXVI at Total Wine in Fort Worth last November. The 12 oz bottle, labeled as being packaged on June 5, 2024, is being opened before a pour into an ABGB snifter. It arrives so dark brown as it might as well be black and is finished by a small ring of light tan, very fine bubbles. The smell is grand, there is dark fruit, grain, chocolate and berries. I take a drink, well, I can say it has been worth the wait. Bakers chocolate, wheat bread, strawberries, malt, raisins, vanilla and earth. A good amount of bitterness too. Though all the Black Buttes have been similar to me, this could be the best one.

Bottle from The Davis Beer Shoppe. Pours dark brn/blk with a small creamy tan head. Aroma of chocolate, roast and peanut butter. Med plus body. Not dry, but not sticky. Heat is discernible. Bitter from roast I think. Chocolate is dark. Thankfully the PB is not oerwhelming.

12 oz. bottle, pours black with a medium beige head. Aroma has plenty of peanut butter powder, cocoa powder, lactose, and a touch of oak barrel. Flavour is rich and cohesive, with lots of cocoa and lactose upfront, rounded by bourbon barrels, and then the peanut butter kicks in to add a nice element. Finishes somewhat bitter, but that helps keep the sweetness in check. If they used PB2 powder, it works well. Very nice.
