"Che Bello" can be heard in nearly every corner of Italy. You might hear it uttered in breathless amazement moments after Francesco Totti and Fabio Cannavaro hypnotize the 70,000 fans in the Stadio Olimpico with their end-to-end tic-tac-toe masterpiece culminating in an unstoppable, top corner goal in what the Italians call the Beautiful Game. You might also hear "Che Bello" used to compliment a long dinner table in Tuscany, laden from one end to the other with exquisite dishes ready for a shared meal. You might even have heard "Che Bello" whispered in awe as Pink Floyd, in October of 1971, played the final note of their 23-minute masterpiece "Echoes" in the majestic Pompeii Amphitheater, sans audience. It means "How Beautiful."

Poured from 473mL can (pkg 05 Dec 2024). Clear blonde gold with white head. Bland pils malt with feint grass hops. Quite boring, though nothing is off about it. Just very average.

473mL can, pours a clear pale blonde with a small white head. Nose is very neutral, maybe a touch of straw and faint dry-hopping notes. Flavour is bright, with lots of crackery malt, some straw, and a somewhat aggressive carbonation. The hops seem almost nonexistent -- how is this an Italian pils exactly without that dry-hopping bitterness? Very underwhelming and weak.

Pale gold, bright, medium head. Light spicy hop note, malts sort of gloppy and a touch of stone fruit. Nice lacing. A take on tipopils? Calm down, please.

Blond colour, clean, palish. The aroma is very mild, not much to say here. Highly carbonated, smooth; the malt base is light, boring, almost rice; the hopping is timid, without much noble character. It's clean, but it's boring, especially when compared to the archetype (of which I had my fare share).

16oz @ home shared with Alex (thx for the beer!). Appearance: clear blonde with a white head. Aroma: grassy, flowery, a bit malty and crispy. Taste: along the same lines, quite rich and bold. Overall: good lager.
