A bière de coupage is a blend of old (barrel aged) and young (stainless steel fresh) beers blended together and bottle conditioned. Why do this? To give the beer a wide array of flavours and textures that if it was just one or the other wouldn’t be as delicious. The older barrel aged beer gives acid, and rich/ripe fruit aromas (mango). The young beer gives bitterness, and fresh primary fruit aromas (pineapple).

Cloudy, not much head, pale. Grapey, stone fruit and a hit of brett on the nose. Tart, bretty, and with a touch of malt. Fresh bug notes. Slight woody note in the finish. Nice blend.

375mL bottle. Pours cloudy pale yellow with thin white head. Aroma is funky with floral notes, light citrus. Flavour has some wild yeast, light citrus, floral hops, woody dryness. Very pleasant and refreshing flavour profile.

375mL bottle, pours a hazy blonde with a small white head. Aroma brings out lots of floral dry-hopping, some wild bugs, oak, and a touch of citrus. Flavour has a complex wild yeast character, just dry-hopping, a touch of citrus, and oak. Nice wild yeast character complemented by the oak and mild dry-hopping. Very good.
