750ml (thx, Chris S.!) @ Phill's during Gene's visit. Appearance: very dark brown with no head. Aroma: American oak, burnt barrel, thick. Taste: along the same lines, a lot of booze, quite harsh, lots of whiskey notes. Moderately sweet. American oak. Overall: unfortunately, I don't think this one is as sophisticated as many other BA Bestowed beers. Harsh and not smooth, with a lot of booze. Probably spent too much time in the barrel? I don't know.

Poured from 750mL bottle. Near black with no head. Deep woody bourbon. not a huge fan of Bestowed as a base beer so without the adjuncts and with a fairly hot bourbon note, it reveals a bit of a lack of complexity. Has some feint chocolate malt undernotes. Just okay.

750mL bottle, pours jet black with a tiny tan head. Aroma has a fairly complex bourbon barrel character, some iron, tobacco, and fermented out dark sugars. Flavour is better than the nose suggested, with plenty of bourbon barrels, some lightly smoky whiskey, molasses, tobacco, and cocoa. Has some booze character to it but it's integrated well. Nice barrel character. Excellent.
