Jopen Johannieter wordt gebrouwen met een grote hoeveelheid geroosterde tarwemout. Ontdek een verrassend volle smaak waarbij de gebrande bitterheid balanceert met zoete tonen van chocolade, karamel, rozijnen en rood fruit.
De naam van het bier komt van het Johannieterklooster dat in het centrum van Haarlem stond. De monniken brouwden daar bier voor hun gasten en voor eigen gebruik. De panden zijn nu in gebruik door het Noord-Hollands Archief waar de oude brouwerskeuren van Haarlem zijn opgeslagen.

Appearance: Dark brown, hint of red. Good amount of tan head.
Aroma: Malt, wood, dark fruits, prunes.
Taste: Malt, dark fruits, caramel sweetness, slight bitterness in there. Not much wheat, though.

Tap Dark ruby colour with small head.Aroma is roasted and fruity with taste of dark dried fruits and toffee caramel and even nuts nice malty and sweet finish with medium body.

28 oct 2016: Bottle. Color: Very dark, almost black. Light brown small head. Taste: Dark roasted medium sweet malt, hints of yeast, caramel, cinnamon and liquorice. Not much bitterness. Medium body, soft carbonation. 30 oct 2019: Bottle, Johannieter Vintage (2018). Color: Very dark ruby, almost black. Light brown head. Aroma: Malty, roasted malt, caramel, chocolate. Taste: Dark roasted medium sweet malt, hints of yeast, caramel, chocolate, cinnamon and liquorice hints. Above moderate to medium sweet, moderate bitterness. Smooth mouthfeel. Medium body, soft carbonation. 7-4-7-4-15=3.7

Tap@Taphouse, Copenhagen - Very dark brown almost black with a big beige head. Aroma and taste is very sweet bready malty, with notes of caramel, toffee, light cocoa, some nice spices into the finish. Lovely.

(Draught at Jopen Proeflokaal, Amsterdam, 20 Feb 2016. Vintage 2013) Black colour with frothy, beige head. Malty, roasted nose with dried fruit, chocolate and toasted wheat. Malty, roasted taste with notes of chocolate, dark bread, caramel, banana and flavours of wheat. Almost full body, with a certain sweetness and a gentle bitterness. Well balanced and warming weizenbock. Nice one.

Draft. A black beer with a dark brown head. The aroma has notes of roasted bread, wheat, and chocolate. The flavor is sweet with notes of roasted bread, wheat, and dark chocolate, leading to dry wheaty finish.

Draft @ Fermentoren, Copenhagen. Pours a black color with a small off-white head. Has a slightly roasted wheat malty spicy caramel aroma with weak smoky hints. Fruity wheat malty spicy caramel flavor. Has a fruity wheat malty spicy caramel finish.
