If The Surveyor IPA had an older sibling, The Alpinist DIPA would be it. We took our favourite old school IPA up to dizzying heights with a lot a lot a lot of Columbus, Amarillo and Citra hops. This is our so damn tasty, The Alpinist West Coast DIPA, served up fresh at 9% alc./vol, 75 ibu.

Bright copper-amber colour, medium head, a beauty. Mild piney aroma. Robust body, with moderate residual sweetness; some caramel, some toasted rice; bold bitterness, with some piney resins and some pith.
Good, old school West Coast IIPA.
2018-11-11, draught at the brewery, 8.5% ABV, 7-4-7-3-14=35
Cloudy light amber colour. Mild resins and dank aroma. Good body strength, moderately sweet, strong bitterness, hop resins, but also some chicory in the finish.
Good beer, but imprecise.

On tap at Coast Mountain, pours a clear copper golden with a small white head. Aroma brings out piney hops, some resins, and biscuity malt. Flavour is not balanced right, with cloyingly sweet caramel malt, and subdued resinous hops. Lots of clashing notes and just not dialed in right. Not good.

Slight haze, light amber, sweet, sticky, nice grapefruit, so it ends up a bit chewy, but not too much. Too alcoholic in the finish.
