Amber colour, white head. Aroma of caramel, straw, malts and pine. Malty flavour, hops, caramel, somewhat sweet and salty. Finish straw.

Cask (handpump) @ GBBF 2014, Great British Beer Festival, London Olympia, Hammersmith Road, London, England W14 8UX. [ As Brains Gordian Knott ].Clear medium amber orange color with a small to average, fizzy, fair lacing, mostly diminishing, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, pale malt, caramel, light nutty - grass. Flavor is moderate sweet and bitter with a long duration, pale malt, caramel, nutty notes. Body is medium, texture is oily to watery, carbonation is soft to flat. [20140813]

From cask. Pours clear and golden orange with a small white head. Aroma is mild fruity, toasted malty. Flat malty, toffee and caramelish to breadish. Malt dense. Slight bitter. Toasted and dry into the finish.

Cask @ GBBF 2014. Pours s pale amber color with a small off-white head. Has a fruity citrus hoppy aroma. Fruity malty citrus hoppy bitter flavor. Has a fruity malty citrus hoppy bitter finish.

Cask at Craft 100 2014. It pours clear amber with a small white head. The nose is sweet, earthy, syrupy, grainy, caramel and brown bread. The taste is bitter, earthy, wood, leather, pepper, light caramel and varnish with a dry finish. Medium body, low carbonation and oily mouth-feel. Not bad for Brains, sort of a Imperial ESB!

Sampled @ GBBF. Clear rusty orange golden color, small white head. Smell and taste malts, caramel, lightly bitter, a hint of nuts. Average body and carbonation.

Cask at the 2014 GBBF. Orang light amber coloured pour with a halo of white head. Aroma is berry and light hop with some caramel. Flavour is biscuity caramel malt with pine and varnish. Sticky on the tongue. Decent. Some harsh bitterness.
