Scaling up our beloved Deadly Nightshade is not a task we took lightly. We decided to forgo the lactose addition in this beer and let the malt and mash variables control the balance of roast, sweetness, and body here. A careful increase of dark malts and a larger coffee addition pair purposefully with the higher alcohol content, all without sacrificing any body or complexity. The result is a naturally sweet and more roasty power packed treat than our typical coffee stouts. We were excited to try a new blend from Giv coffee that is a slightly darker roast of their Starbreather blend that promises notes of Almond, Dark Chocolate, and Raisin.

Reviewed from notes.
Can to snifter.
Appearance: dark brown close to black in color with a two finger tan foamy head which dissipated nicely to leave some light lace
Aroma: coffee roast, coffee sweet, dark chocolate and milk chocolate, a touch of dark fruits, and light almonds
Flavor: sweet to roasty and nutty through the prior noted aromas; finishes chocolatey and coffee-like
Texture: medium bodied, good sipper, some smoothness, sly dryness and light roasty grind hitting the tongue
Overall: nicely done impy stout I would have again.

Draft at Paragon, 7/26/24. Dark brown color, medium brown head. Rich, with sweet coffee, roast, and caramel. Nutty. Very smooth. Rich, full bodied feel. A little dry on the finish to balance the sweetness. Quite nice. 8/4/9/4/17

Can 18/05/2024 Malmö May 2024 tasting at Palace Hall - dark sweet roasted malty with lots of cocoa and coffee roast, full bodied, some nutty accents into the warming lingering malty finish. Lovely.
