Schneeböckchen

Bottle looks simple but good. Beer in the glass zippy, dark brown, nice head. Starts strong with some alcoholic notes, malty, not too roasty. Fruity-sweetish notes of apricot. Finish still warming-alcoholic. Okay.

Very rich deep brown coloured body with a very thin, fast-dying tan head. Aroma of caramel, nuts, earth, pit fruits, metal, malt and some lighter scents like banana and concord grapes - nice. Full-bodied; Rich caramel flavours up front with a big malt kick, some alcohol notes of brandy and cognac and hints of the caramel and a touch of spice on the finish. Aftertaste is a bit rich from malt and also showing some alcohol depth with a subdued yet strong complexity. Overall, a nice rich malty doppelbock with a good taste of yeast and some sweet finishes. Not as refined and polished as I would like, but a good option if you can find it in Germany! I sampled this stubby 33 cL bottle purchased from Ambrosetti in Berlin, Germany on 30-December-2010 sampled at home in Washington on 24-October-2014, almost four years later, but still showing good character.

Bottle from a mixed six pack picked up at green week. Clear amber with a thin tan head. Aroma is bready caramel. Flavour is warming fruity caramel with a light bitter chocolate. Finish is dry

Pours amber/brown colour. Caramel, malt and a slight smokiness in the aroma. Flavours of malt and caramel.

Bottle: Clear, amber to deep amber coloured, moderate sweet-malty and toasty-fruity nose; quite slim for a Doppelbock, moderate sweet-bitter flavour; slightly lingering sweetish toasty-bitter finish. Quite nice, but pretty slim…

(bottle, 33cl) Clear, chestnut colour with a medium-sized and slightly beige foamy head. Moderately sweet and mildly toasted malty aroma with notes of bread and caramel. Moderately sweet flavour, medium bodied at most with a calm carbonation. Dark and slightly toasted malty taste with mildly bready accents; sweet, even a little bit sugary finish but with a balancing an delicate bitterness; the alcohol is well-hidden. 17.IV.12

Bottle. Marzipan bread aroma. Dark chestnut, offwhite head. Sweet roast, light rye bread, molassis on the tongue - somewhat sticky, otherwise fresh, nice hop profile in the back.

Süßer, fast etwas zuckriger Malzantrunk. Wenig süßer ist es im Mittelteil, hier kann sich das Malz aber zunehmend entfalten und gibt nussige Noten frei. Noch besser ist es im Nachgeschmack, wo die Süße aber weiterhin stört. So ist das Bier leider nicht sonderliche vollmundig. Alkoholisch angehauchter Abgang. Würziger, in Teilen zu süßer Doppelbock, der gerne mehr Tiefgang haben dürfte. 8/9/9/9/9/9
