Varvar recently undertook a UK tour, brewing with some of the UK's best craft breweries. For their visit to Liverpool, we developed a cocktail beer to celebrate our new friendship, using an amplified version of our house Gose recipe as a base.
Muddler is a strong sour ale and we added Dulse seaweed harvested on the coastline of Antrim to give a respectable dose of saltiness. We then added maple syrup for a slightly sweet flavour and muddled together 10kg of lime zest and a fresh mint tincture to give the beer a zingy and fresh aroma and flavour profile.

Can. Viva Ukraine! Light haze on this paleish yellow gold beer, big white head. A suitably saline limey nose. Airy and fairly dry palate, reasonable fine carbonation. Good lime delivery, no feckin scurvy here, a little lime peel and lime sweet s, some floral lime and a touch of acid lime. Good salinity carries over from the snout and blends well with the multi layered lime. Dry and limey finish. Oh for a better palate, a bit thin and too dry but delivers good fruity intensity.

Can from Hoptimism. Appearance - hazy yellow with a snow white head. Nose - lime zest and salt. Light funk. Taste - intense lime zest and peel. Salty edge again. Palate - light bodied, dry zesty and slightly tart finish. Overall - it's good. I'm not sure if the base beer is particularly tart or if that's all coming from the lime.
