A dark reddish brown beer, almost clear looking, and with a dense, finger-thick beige head. The aroma has caramel, roasted malts, some dark chocolate and dried fruits, some coffee grit in the back. A herbal, peppery touch too. It’s lightly sourish too, with flavors of dark chocolate, coffee and black pepper. It’s full-bodied and quite dry on the palate, with a soft carbonation. Lasting finish. Not sure if I like that little lemony coffee-ish sourness, but it didn’t ruin the beer either. 141219

Cask at The Davis Beer Shoppe. Pours dark black with a large beige head. The armoa is monstrously coffee. Smooth, mellow and soft. The coffee is not so dominant as it was in the aroma - there’s a little chocolate and malt is detectable. In the finish it’s bitter, but smooth, coffee all the way. Quite an experience.
