Keg at PP Solana Beach, 14/11/14. Reddish amber with a moderately appointed light beige covering. Nose is sweet caramel, perfume, candied fruit peel, hoppy notes. Taste comprises toasted brown sugar, light tropical fruits, sweet licks, pine, sticky candy. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close. Doesn’t deliver much for the ABV, too sweet, needs more bitterness.

Sample at the brewpub. Pours a slightly hazy reddish-amber color with a thin foamy off-white head that dissipates quickly to an outer ring. Short strings of lacing. Aroma of malt, pine and hops. Medium to full body with a resiny hops character and notes of earthy malt and ripe fruit. The finish is malty up front with a floral hops aftertaste. Above average overall.

Growler. Pours with a clear bronze hued body with an off-white head. Aromas are of brown sugar, massive pine, caramel and medium esters. Flavors are brown sugar, leather, caramel malt, toasty, red fruit, medium bitter. Fruity finish. Medium carbonation, somewhat dry with a lingering bitterness.
