Bottle at the Watford tasting 26/07/14. Thanks to Ed. Bright orange coloured pour with a light white head. Aroma is light spices, cardamon, floral hop and green hop. Flavour is spicy green hop with lemon note with grainy cereal and biscuity malts. Assertive slightly rough green hop with some midget gem. Palate is drying medium sweet and grain husks. Decent beer.

Cask, handpump at The Hop Pole, Aylesbury, Bucks, Friday 30th May 2014 Pours light amber with a sticky white head, looks great, good temperature it is in superb nick. I understand that this is a ’black pepper IPA’ there is certainly a hint of spiciness about it, not too sure about black pepper though. Really quite bitter, with some citrus, toffee and biscuit coming to the fore, but there is a decent maltiness to hold things together which is handy because it does seem just a little unbalanced. I like it but it could have been better. A6 A5 T7 P3 Ov13 3.4

Cask at the Bell, Waltham St Lawrence, 04/05/14. Clear golden amber with a moderate off white head that thins and retains. Nose is orange peel, light floral tones, vanilla notes, biscuit crumble. Taste comprises candied orange peel, light vanilla, hint of caramel, biscuit malt, light spice. Medium bodied, moderate to soft carbonation, light bitterness in the close. Decent enough ESB.
