Keg at the Earl of Essex, 13/02/14. Mahogony brown with a moderate light tan covering that retains well. Nose is spice, herbal tang, bitter orange, soy sauce meets Worecester sauce, tangy fruit. Taste comprises dark fruit tang, herbal qualities, faint liqourice, shavings of route ginger, light creosote. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close. Not a huge amount of ginger, more worcester sauce to me, but not a partiuclarly easy or clean drinker nor a beer I’d particularly want to try again!

Keg at the Earl of Essex - London. Pours rich, amber-brown with a thin, creamy tan head. Intense ginger on the nose, some meat, dark malts. Medium sweet flavor with aggressive ginger spice, charred meat, sugary dark malts, floral hops. Medium bodied with fine to average carbonation. Sweet finish with infringing ginger, excessive ginger intensity, oily bready malts, torched steak. Not especially flawed but lacks grace completely.
