A farmhouse eye ale matured in a wonderful Stone Barn whiskey barrel. This single cask beer has a spirit focused nose, with layers of cocoa, cherry, char, and warm whiskey malts on the palate.

Dullish pale brown, thin head. Acetic, off, the barrels aren’t helping and this is just a weak, vinegary sort of beer, with more booziness in the finish. I hope this isn’t my last Upright.

Tap at Upright, PDX, 26/05/13. Dark mahogony brown with a good sized beige head. Nose carries a good bourbon punch, woody notes, grain, toffee. Taste comprises caramelised sugars, toffee fudge, biscuit, woody notes, bourbon, light booze. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, touch of booze in the finish. Decent stuff, a big improvement on the base beer for me.
