Handpull cask at the Babington Arms (JDW), Derby. Dark brown with a slight reddish hue. Massive foamy cream-coloured head. Vague scent of Ovaltine but there’s not a lot there really. Some vegetal notes as well. Sweet and pleasant but unengaging taste. Watery palate. A fairly half-arsed attempt at a mild from a brewery that can do better.

Cask at the Wellington; dark chestnut brown pour with a bubbly light tan head, aroma has light roast and some red fruits, taste has dark fruits a hint of coffee, roasty malts, quite nice.
