Cask at Brunswick, Derby. Pours “bitter brown” with minimal cream head and good lacing. There’s lactose and malts in the aroma plus some hoppy hints. In the mouth in fluctuates between bitter and sweet – with the latter winning out eventually. Flavour has malts, traditional hops, lactose and autumn fruits. Finish is slightly dry. This is reasonable – though somewhat thin.

Handpull cask at the Parcel Yard, Leicester. Mid-brown, looks terribly thin. Cream/white head and lots of lacing. Mild chocolate/coffee aroma. Sweet taste, lovely and earthy with a hint of sourness in the finish. A really tasty if basic mild.
