There are only a few weeks in the year when fresh hops are available during the harvest in September. Pale ale malt and a small amount of Crystal malt have been used with three types of Goldings hops - Styrian Goldings, East Kent Goldings and Hereford Fresh Green Goldings. These hops give a clean fresh aroma and flavour.

Cask at the Wainwright, Keswick. Golden, clear with a small almost-white head. Light aroma of hay and notes of butterscotch. Taste is sweet with a pronounced malty note and some leafy hop in the finish. Notes of light grain and toffee in the aftertaste. Very English, and very good for what it is.
