Barrel-Aged Ale on Blue Plums and Gamay Skins
Pours a deep magenta with luminous, pearl-coloured foam and an aroma of plum pudding, raspberry jam and pie crust. Its texture is both rich and airy, with waves of flavour crashing on the palate before smoothly subsiding like a tide going out to sea. An elegantly tannic finish leads into grace notes of warm spice and dried mint, which delicately wane until another sip starts the cycle anew.

On tap at Avling, pours a clear golden with a small white head. Aroma has some spicy plum, musty grape skins, and a touch of oak. Flavour is complex, bringing out a great mix of floral plum, musty grape skins, oak, and great bugginess. Beautiful mixture of the plum and grape, with a great base and a dry finish. Excellent.

Pale purple, opaque, with a medium head. The gamay jumps out aromatically, along light barrel notes and vague bugginess. Soft, juicy, vinous character, the plums lending tartness and accent. Sweetness up front, then off-dry finish, again a cool blend of tart and juicy. Excellent.
