A clear, dark amber to brown beer with a dense, finger-thick beige head. Nuts, dust and caramel in the flavor. Some dried figs kicking in. The flavor is roasted and nutty, with some dusty and toasted hints. Caramel and a nice bitterness. Full body, quite dry on the palate, with a caramel finish. Some nuts and toast too. Not very interesting this one, a bit messy. 140829

On tap at the brewery. Pours near black with a light brown head that lasts throughout the beer and laces thickly. Aroma has a nice roasted malts with some chocolates and just a touch of bitter dark grains. Flavor has roasted malts throughout with bitter chocolate and a good amount of toffee.

Re-rate 05/29/2011. On tap at the brewery. Pours a dark brown with a light tan head. Aroma is quite earthy and nutty. Still lots of earthy and peanut flavors, but also picking up more cocoa and coffee. Enjoying this more than I did at last summer’s festival.

Original review: On tap at MBGSF 2010. Pours a hazy brown with a tan head. Aroma is light, mainly a dark fruit sensation. Flavor is very earthy, led by peanut butter. Clean finish. 7/3/7/3/15/3.5
