Can: Strong hay and grain aroma. Crystal clear yellow, thick head, good lace. Grain, cane sugar. Paper finish. Light body, easy carbonation. Nice intensity for a lager, but too sweet.

Can - clear gold, soapy lace - nose is medium sweet, with some grassy hops, sweet pear, white grape, moderate acidity - crisp and lightly bitter up front - notes of puffed rice, lightly sour malt character - kind of watery and lifeless in the mouth - slight mineral water finish - was hoping for a lot more.

13th May 2015: on tap in JFAT (Jimmy’s Famous American Tavern), Dana Point, Orange County. Clear golden pour with no head by the time the glass got to my table. Crisp, sharp feel to the beer, more grain than hop in both the aroma and taste, grassy dry finish. Went well with the spicy meatballs.

Keg at BP LI SD, 13/11/14. Clear pale golden with a moderte white cap. Nose is pale malt, straw, citric peel, grain, cereal, fresh and clean. Taste comprises lemon rind, pale malt, grassy notes. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close, clean execution. Decent lager.

[2/20/15] Draught at Ballast Point Old Grove in San Diego. Clear yellow. Aroma of graininess, lager yeast and a grassy hop note. Sweetish flavor with bready and slightly honey-ish malt. Graininess and a mild grassy hops bitterness. Rather light-bodied.

Bottle 12fl.oz. [ As Ballast Point Longfin Lager ].Clear medium yellow color with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, white head. Aroma is moderate malty, pale malt, sugary malt. Flavor is moderate sweet and light bitter with a average duration, sweet malt, sugary, grassy notes. Body is medium, texture is oily to watery, carbonation is soft. [20130817]

Can. Hazy golden yellow color, bright white head that settles quickly. Aroma is peppery straw, some cardboard. Taste is bitter lemon and white pepper.

12 oz. brown bottle into a Foothills glass. A: Clear straw color with the slightest haze. Half finger of loose head. Good lacing but it does not last and goes down to only a small collar around the glass. S: Tart herbs and dough, mostly. T: Crackers/doughy malt flavors with a tart herbal hop flavor finding its way through later, along with a bit of a sweetish roundness as the beer warms. Crisp, clean and bitter. Quite good. M: A bit on the stiff side of light. A good amount of bubble tingle on the tongue. Minimal hops stickiness, a bit wet maybe and very clean. Maybe this beer’s best quality. O: Had high hopes for Longfin but found it good though hardly great. I appreciate everything about this lager, including its low ABV. It all says "quality" but nothing was found truly exceptional. A good brew but expensive. At $12/6, I’ve likely had my last B.P. Longfin.

A decent lager

I finally got myself a lager/pilsner glass(then bought a slightly different one at IKEA) anyways I served the Longfin Lager in a Daiso Pilsner glass. Can from Antenna America, 4.5% It poured a great clear gold with a nice inch of foam which left behind lacing and a filmy layer of foam. Sweet malty grassy aroma with a touch of floral hops. The taste is sweet, fruity like a wine then cracker with a hint of graham before finishing with hay and a crisp lightly bitter finish. Pretty good subtle lager.
