Curious stout, almost leaning into black IPA territory with the resinous bitterness on the back end. Starts with a moderate note of bitter cocoa, cascara, and anise, followed by milk chocolate and black cherry, leading to a firm, piney, almost herbaceous finish. Cold fermentation ups the fruitiness, but in a good way. Unique, like an amped-up classic American stout. Good beer.

Pint can from The Wine Shop Charleston, 5/6/23. Black, large brown head, average retention. Aroma of roast, earth, nuts, spice. Taste is roast, chocolate, spice, nuts. Slick, well balanced, mild bitterness. Nice.
