Inspired by millennia old ales of Scotland, this modern take on an herbed ale combines heather, meadowsweet, and thyme with a hint of hops to pay a unique and malty tribute to this beer of legend. Considered to be worth dying for, no original fraoch recipes survive, but this refreshing homage was concocted to celebrate the birth of a son. Curious pint, maybe only the second Fraoch beer I've found, and I've no clue if it sticks well to the stylistic expectations. Has a perfumed quality, reminiscent of that couch with all the sachets on it in your grandma's other living room (the one nobody uses), plus vanilla, wheat, and a subtle citric brightness. Definitely not a crowd-pleaser, but makes me love the fact H&S will spend time brewing a batch of an extinct, infinitesimally niche beer.
