Named for the class of elite Scottish mercenary warriors between the mid 13th century and late 16th century. Our 8.5% Scottish-Style Ale is brewed with Maris Otter, Crystal, Munich, and a kiss of Chocolate Malt. Dark brown in color with big notes of toasted pumpernickel bread followed by whispers of molasses, root beer, and chocolate. The finish is moderately dry and balanced with a hint of sweetness.

16 oz can. Garnet brown with hints of a thin white head that quickly. Nose of fig and toffee, some burnt toast. Flavor follows with a nice rich malt background. Light bitter finish. Properly made for the style. Good!

8 oz. pour on tap at the brewery. Lightly hazy dark brown/amber with nice viscosity. Aroma is caramel. Taste is strong caramel, toffee, milder late butterscotch. Smooth, thick texture, average carbonation & finish as taste. Flavor bests aroma.

On tap at the source in a plastic cup. Tawny brown with hints of garnet at the edges and a thin tan head that quickly dissipates. Caramel and dark dried fruits with a some toast and light earth to counter. Complex sipper.
