Harvey’s Brewery Wild Hop is ‘beautifully balanced, but a bit on the wild side’!

Brewed with the aptly named ‘Sussex Hop’ – originally discovered growing wild in a hedgerow in Sussex, but now cultivated as a variety in its own right. It is supplemented with Cascade hops grown in the UK.

GBBF Day 2. Hazy gold beer, no real head. Light dry palate, low carbonation. Typically yeasty. Not much hop here. Honestly what do people see in this brewery?!

Cask at Charlie’s Bar, Copenhagen. A pale yellow beer with an off-white head. The aroma has notes of hops, straw, and flowers. The flavor is sweet with notes of straw, lemons, and hints of malt, leading to a bitter finish.

Cask handpull at The Royal Oak Borough. Clear pale gold. It’s like a hoppy golden ale. Slight Harveys yeast on the aroma. Good hop in the mouth. Good hop finish. Very pleasant and interesting. Flowery perfumed. Good.

Cask, lord Nelson Brighton. It pours clear golden yellow with a small white head. The nose is earth, dough, light spice, herbal and farmyard. The taste is crisp, dough, light bitterness, pithy lemon, lime and hay with a dry finish. Light-medium body and low carbonation. Nothing special, but nothing wrong with it either. Fine.
