Bottle at home in NH. Picked up at the brewery a while back. Bottled in January 2014. Pours brown with a lasting, tight beige foam head. The nose has some tangy berries that suggest, perhaps, a little brett infection, minimal roast. Medium sweet flavour with a rather enjoyable tangy, leathery berry character, mild earth, hints of cocoa, alcohol. Medium bodied with massaging carbonation. Nicely balanced finish with further aged, tangy berry character, light raisin, faint funk, earthy hop, vague cocoa, more boozy warmth. Pretty dynamic stuff. Good fun.

Bottle from Downtown Wine and Spirits. Pours a solid black with a small but long lasting foamy tan head. Smells of chocolate, caramel, and spice with hints of roast, clove and pepper. The flavor comes through with chocolate caramel and light pitted fruits. Lots of bread and yeasty phenols as well as a hint of ethanol. Medium body with a spirited level of carbonation and a bubbly slick mouthfeel. True to style and more carbonation than I enjoy this beer is pretty good but I would have liked a bit more caramelized sugars and dark fruit flavors.

Pours black into a shaker. Mocha head with good retention recedes leaving spider lacing. Earthy roasted chocolate aromas. Thin with sour chocolate and nuts upfront turning bitter in the dry lasting roasted coffee finish.
