Saison began as a pale ale brewed in the cooler, less active months in farmhouses in Wallonia, the French-speaking region of Belgium, and stored for the seasonal workers (Saisonniers) as liquid bread to drink in the summer months. The workers needed something to fill their stomachs and quenching their thirst, saison is a high carbonated refreshing drink. Farmhouse is a modern take on the classical Saison, more of everything really, more alcohol, more hops.

8/11/2024. Bottle shared by Robin, cheers. Pours hazy pale orange with a small frothy white head. Aroma is citrusy, grassy, yeasty. A little sweetness. Not bad.

[ As Open Water Farmhouse ].
ABV: 6.5%. Clear medium yellow colour with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white to white head. Aroma is moderate malty, fruity malt, wheat, moderate yeasty, fruity yeast, saison yeast - gristte yeast. Flavor is moderate sweet with a average duration, sweet yeast, sweet malt, pale malt, wheat - saison yeast, fruity yeast. Body is medium, texture is oily to watery, carbonation is soft. [20240425]

Bottled (thanks Roger Källman!). Hazy yellowish orange colour, mediumsized white foamy head. Aroma is some citrus, mild toffee, some earth and mild yeasty tones. Flavour is fruity, floral, toffee and quite yeasty and spicy. Still good after several years after bottling date.

--Bottled, thanks Robban! -- Clear golden, rich firm head. Grassy nose with mild floral notes. Dry with light body and clean mouthfeel. Some citrus and grass, some marzipan. Mid bitter finish.

Bottle at Indigo, Mariehamn. Hazy golden with a white head. Mild spices, grass, yeast and some citrus. Lively carbonation. A bit odd. The label is also odd, Black IPA.
