(500ml bottle c/o Herbalist, thanks!) Pours lightly hazed medium gold with a decent stable white head and lace. Aroma is confit lemon and orange plus a little pit fruit, gum candies, heavy wood tones with slight butteriness/vanillin, sweet cereals, herbal and almost minty spruce, some prominent pepperiness that must be the alder catkin. Flavour is lightly sweet up front with light acidity in the middle and a dry finish; notes of pale malt bready cereals, some pit fruit, light lemon/grapefruit, buttery oak, soft lactic acidity, a bit of bubblegum type ester in the middle of the sip, some strange herbal/savoury tones that might be the alder, softly peppery dried spruce, very dry in the finish with quite some buttery oak, aftertaste is bitter spruce resin and peppercorn. Light to medium-bodied with fine soft bottle-conditioned carb. Odd duck for sure. Enjoyable though, in its quirky way.
