Crisp and clear deep amber and copper tinted body with a smooth, single centimetre tall light tan head on top. Aroma of wheat, bread, grain, candy sugar, a good dose of curacao and a lot of Belgian yeast that shows the banana esters and almost cloying sweet smell throughout. Medium to perhaps Full-bodied; Strong very pungent banana and wheatie notes with a lot of grain, a good deal of alcohol and a soft hit of lemons, cake and vanilla on the finish, but the alcohol and deep heavy malts make this quite strong throughout. Aftertaste shows all the sugars at first with oranges, bananas and curacao the strongest, but a good hit of alcohol and yeast make this very nice and complex, even at the tail end. Overall, a nice and distinctly American version of a Belgian Tripel, but shoes nicely with some strong flavours and a lot of alcohol throughout. I sampled this twelve ounce pour on draught from the Black Hammer Brewpub in San Francisco, California on 13-March-2019 while visiting the West Coast.
