HOPS Columbus
YEAST American Ale
Dark, malty beer for those of you who want a break from hops. Chocolate on the nose with a soft smokiness on the palate and a surprisingly light body. An easy drinking porter that’s understated and totally delicious.

Tap at the brewpub. Truly a light porter. Reminded me of an oatmeal brown ale. I can see how if was put in the porter category though cause it was quite a bit roastier than a brown ale would be. The oatmeal added a great full bodiedness to the motuhfeel, and the roast was solid and satusfying throughout. There is a pronounced nuttiness that balanced well with the slight, and i mean slight pine resin hopiness i found near the end. A superb drinking full bodied dark, mdelicious ale. Kinda a mild, porter brown hybrid. Bellwoods hits another homerun.

Bottle. Second beer to sport their swanky new generic label. Beer dated May 25, 2015. Pour a inky brown with only a ring or head. Really nice malty nose of chocolate, toast, a touch of coffee and caramel. Taste is a solid malt of toast and chocolate, some sweetness, and a malty bitterness in the aftertaste. A little thin on the palate, but overall tasty.
