Brewed to 6.2% this IPA is a more typical English IPA, with sweet notes from the Maris Otter grist, offset by a lovely balance of new world hops (Chinook, Galaxy, Ekuanot, Summit & Mosaic) to give a citrus and orange zest aroma with light bitterness.

Bottle thanks to The Osprey. It pours clear golden - amber with a decent white head. The aroma is bready, toasted grain, some floral notes, perfumed orange action and grapefruit. The taste is bitter, spicy, cereal, bready maltage, toasted grain, orange marmalade, light spice and cereal with a dry, spicy finish. Medium body and fine carbonation. Not enough hops and too much malt. Fair.

Draught @ BAJT. Pours hazy orange / deep golden with a frothy offwhite head that slowly dissipates while leaving some thick sticky lacing in the glass. Smell is malty and slightly fruity with caramel, toffee, grapefruit juice, moist grass, pine needles, resinous wood, orange peal and lemon zest. Taste is sweet, tiny bitter, slightly malty, slightly fruity, slightly floral and slightly grassy. Mouthfeel is soft, round, tiny astringent, tiny oily and medium bodied. Finish is slightly sweet and slightly bitter with caramel, toffee, fruit flavoured taffy, grapefruit juice, apricots, moist grass, resin and orange zest. Bit hard to define. Rather malty and sticky yet smooth and fairly drinkable. Hints of cardboard makes me think it’s not super fresh but that could be the malts or the fairly floral hops tricking me too. Not an IPA I prefer but goes down easy enough. --- Beer merged from original tick of Battersea IPA on 30 Aug 2015 at 17:27 - Score: 6
