Brewed to 6.2% this IPA is a more typical English IPA, with sweet notes from the Maris Otter grist, offset by a lovely balance of new world hops (Chinook, Galaxy, Ekuanot, Summit & Mosaic) to give a citrus and orange zest aroma with light bitterness.

On tap at Øltorget. Dark amber with an off-white head. Malty aroma with caramel, fruity hops and hints of herbs and citrus. Fairly sweet and caramely with moderate hoppy notes. Too sweet for my taste, but quite nice.

Bottle at home in London - picked up at Kris Wines. Pours clear, rich copper-gold with, fairly effervescent, with a lasting, off-white froth head. Easygoing aroma with licks of orange, some bready malts, perhaps some crystal, hints of pine. Medium sweet flavor with understated bitterness, some further pine, slight caramel, bread, orange, melon. Medium bodied with fine to average carbonation. Reasonably well balanced to finish, though not especially exciting. Some further bready, lightly toasted pale malts, hints of caramel, pine, orange. It’s a very safe IPA with a sturdy, up-front malt character. I definitely enjoy it, even it’s it isn’t terribly dynamic. Nice to see Sambrooks dipping their toes in the craft waters.
