Sampled from the bottle at the Mundelin beer fest. Pours a clear red with a light yellowish brown head that lasts throughout the beer. Aroma has a nice grassy hoppiness with backing caramel, sweet grains and light fruit. Flavor starts with grassy hops and a bit of resin with sweetness coming out in the middle and hints of earthiness in the finish.

I finally got to try more Half Acre beers when I hit Maria’s in Bridgeport for the first time. This is in a 9 oz. goblet and $5 draft on a Monday! Slightly reddish color shows through the dim bar lighting. Thin is thin, yet sassy as satisfied. Smell is of worming alcohol and a touch of, well, I say, red wine. The taste has alcohol up front, but it has brought its friends along: more cherry/fruity malt esters, and snarky American hops. A flat out great, big beer. Malt profile stays at the fringes, but stays to the end help dust you off.

Purchased at Half Acre Brewery, enjoyed with a good friend while hanging out on his 30th birthday. Appearance is a dark red/brown with rich off white head that laces to the glass. Aroma is heavy on the malts and hops, bit of spices as well. Taste is heavy on the malt, not so much caramel though, maybe a bit bready. Definitely heavy hops, rich in body, medium carbonation, nice bitter finish. Thought this was pretty good.
