On tap at Toronado. It pours an unclear, yellow-ish body and a small, dense, white head. The aroma has a nice touch of honey, even though I’m normally not very fond of honey in my beers. Fruityness and a touch of yeast as well. Some pale malts too. The flavor has a nice honey sweetness and taste, along with pale malts, yeast hints and fruits. Medium to full body, pleasant carbonation. Long finish. A nice honey beer. 130804

Awesome designed bottle thanks to big-D. Pours a clear yellow color with a large white head. A nice nose of spicy lemon and malty sweetness. The flavor certainly matches a big zingy spicy lemon and ginger with sweet malt and honey. Clean and tasty.

Very slightly hazy golden coloured body with a hint of gold glow and a very thin, half centimetre tall tan head. Aroma of light malt, nuts, earth, yeast and a hint more grass. Light to Medium-bodied; Deep earthy flavour with a lot of malt, some peanuts, a little bitterness and almost no herbal, dry, airy notes nor of any honey sweetness - just perhaps some light cardboardie sugars. Aftertaste shows some bitterness, a hint of alcohol and a lot of earthiness. Overall, this one is drinkable, but isn’t a saison at all and doesn’t show any honey flavours whatsoever. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Total Wine in Tustin, California on 02-May-2013 for US$2.99 sampled at home in Washington on 09-July-2013.

Pours a fairly pale gold. Moderately cloudy. Medium-sized off-white head. Ok retention, little lacing. Aroma has some crackery malt, citrus, some ginger zing, a light touch of honey and a bit of earthy saison yeast character. There also seems to be some French oak, which I think is a particularly difficult to use well and it’s not great here. Similar to Farmer’s Reserve No. 2, the ginger is subtle and well-integrated into the flavor. The honey is floral but a bit weak. The yeast character is fairly boring. Some band-aid sneaks in. Taste has more of that French oak flavor, which feels off for the beer. I’m not sure why, but it just seems to make the beer feel heavier with some musty spice and woody sweetness. A bit too much ginger in the taste. More band-aid. A bit more honey, but it’s less floral, here. The malt flavor seems dragged down by the ginger and oak. Some herbal hop character in the finish. Never really dries out as much as I’d like. Kinda heavy feel for a saison. Relatively low carbonation for the style. This is a disappointing saison. It sounds good on paper, but the beer doesn’t come together. I’d much prefer it to be drier and more refreshing.

Bottle shared by Marcus. Pours slightly hazy bright lemon yellow. Light honey aroma. Med minus body. Flavor is a touch of honey with mild earthiness and a bit of hop. Overall it’s a very light drink; for me the ginger is only truly discernible towards the finish.

Bottle. Pours pale hazy yellow with a medium white head that dissipates with nice lacing. Aroma is wheat, spices, ginger, lemon. Taste is quite spicy with mild honey sweetness and a light bitter grassy/spicy/herbal finish. Quite interesting, but perhaps a little overspiced.
