Draft. An unclear golden beer with an orangey head. The aroma has notes of malt as well as lighter notes of lemon and berries. The flavor is sweet with notes of malt, straw, and wheat, as well as lighter notes of banana and over ripe fruits.

Draft at Claim Jumper, Lombard. This is on the menu and the tap handle as "Claim Jumper Hefeweizen." I asked the server if this was from SLO and she concurred, but SLO doesn’t have a hefe. But then, this wasn’t much of a hefe. But the comments here and on "the Advocate" for this beer concur with my impressions, so here ’tis:
I requested a "short," so this came in a shaker instead of a weizen glass, slice of lemon floating inside. Slightly reddish color, no hefe haze. Foam is gone in less than a minute. Lemon adds to a citrusy smell impression. Taste is actually a bit hearty, but mostly from light malts. Touch of sourness, again from the lemon I flicked out. Some esters. I can’t pick out anything here that tells me it’s a wheat beer; more along the lines of a 312. It’s okay as a summer beer (I biked to the restaurant before going to the bus). But this ain’t no hefe, Hefé.

On draught at Old Baldy in Upland, CA. The beer is a hazy yellowish color with a medium thin white head that diminishes fairly quick. Thin rings of lacing on the glass. Mild wheat aroma with touches of fruit and spice. Medium, clean body with flavors of sweet fruit and wheat, plus a touch of spice. The finish is fruity with a short wheaty aftertaste. Unmemorable overall.
