Just a taster at Noon Whistle. Murky brown body, not much like a stout at all, more like a reddish porter. But I should not judge by appearances. Fruity and a a bit spicy in the nose. Yes, something in the neighborhood of an Italian dessert. Taste is kind of creamy, has some milk, actual milk, it tastes like, to it. Notes of ladyfinger, coconut, and cinnamon. While I’m trying this at 9:30 at night, with the smell of malt from the brewery still hanging in the air, that may be incompatible with the flavors I’m supposed to get out of this. Yes, this is one of those “pastry stouts” the real beer geeks turn their noses up at. It may be a bit overdone, but it is kind of nice. Might not be a favorite, but I’m happy to have tried it.
