Sampler at the brewpub. Had a big puffy head rising above the sampler glass, but even after several minutes, there’s still a good puddle of foam. Pretty mild and agreeable coffee porter nose. Full black body. Taste has the slight astringency of roasty Stout malts on top of a bitter coffee addition. Coffee-ish taste comes in after another sip or two. I initially marks it’s taste as a "6", and will probably leave it there just because I tend to be more generous to beer made on premises anyway, but this adds a balance to the pale ales and lighter beers on the first half of the sampler tray. Finish has nice notes of a bit of chocolate roasted beans.
