750 ml bottle sent by Schlafly in 2016. This is the one beer I forgot I had. But I found it in my cellar, and chilled it for my 65th birthday. Well behaved as I popped the cap. Poured an opaque brown beer with a very thin ring of foam. Smell is a mixture of spices, maybe like the Trader Joe's Vintage ales. I thought I had read somewhere that this was 10% abv, but now I can't find confirmation. Taste has a mellow blend of spice, luckily not ruined by age. Toasty malts. Again, age may have taken out some of the hops, since I just get a balance against any malt sweetness. This beer kind of defines its own style. An American spiced ale? A very slight bit of dreg at the bottom of the bottle, maybe more settled-out spices than yeast.
