From the middle ages until the beginning of the 19th century the making of wheat beers was the duke's monopoly in Bavaria. Wheat beers contain at least 50% of wheat malt. The taste of wheat beers is softer, the bitterness of the hops is less dominant. The traditional bavarian wheat beer has more variants. The simple filtered or unfiltered version is an ideal choice during summer due to it's citric freshness, while the darker, sweeter wheat bock beers are popular during autumn and winter.

Rizmajer's unfiltered wheat beer has the colour of the honey opalescent from the beer yeast and has a rich foam. It's smell is dominated by clove, banana and ananas. The taste is not as light as a citric wheat beer: the freshness and the banana-cloves-ananas trio is enriched with sweetness. RIzmajer wheat beer is perfect to enjoy from autumn until late spring.

Bottle at America Strikes Back, Ulfborg. Pours cloudy amber with stable off-white head. Clear aroma of banana and malt, with touches of yeast. Sweetish, malty flavour, with notes of banana and yeast, interspersed by regular hoppy notes. Sweetish finish. Not bad!

Bottle at Csak a Jó Sör. Well, this was recommended to me as the best Hungarian wheat beer. Didn’t plan to have more, but I was waiting for a friend to show up - so why the hell not, and making me try a hefeweizen that borders Weizenbock territory is hardly hard. Murky dark amber body with a white head. Creamy, nice malty aroma, light chewed up bubblegum & light banana. Eh, this is a malt-driven hefeweizen, creamy, with notes of banana, sweetish, some melon, ending with some dry rubber that I didn’t like that much. Very very light peppery notes. Light bitter finish. Ah, not as thrilled as the others. 3.2-3.4 for me

hazy yellow colour, not too much, not too stable white head; aroma of banana, honey, some pineapple, citrusses, yeast and hints of floral hops; taste is the same; great hefeweizen; maybe it is not a 4.1 beer for others, but, with some local-patriotism, it is definitely 4.1 for me:-); congratulations! 28/07/2024: I've tasted this beer plenty of times in the past decade; in fact it is one of my first choices if I want to drink a good weizen; so far, its quality was stable and I've never experienced any mistakes or errors - until now...and now I am really disappointed - this current batch definitely tastes and smells like an infected beer...I am seriously disappointed - as this is the first time I have this experience, I made only changes in the Overall score - if it re-occurs, obviously I have to re-rate the beer (its current score is around 1.8-1.9 objectively...)
