Fishwater is brewed for balance leading to a “dangerously drinkable” double IPA at 8.5% ABV.
This drinkability is intentionally crafted by combining the sweet caramel notes from grains with generous amounts of spicy, fruity American hops.
The beer is named after a our brewmaster and founder Chris Fish, who everyone calls Fish, and one of his favorite Widspread Panic songs.
Most of us, including Fish, would tell you the colors of the can and logo are orange and blue for the Broncos, except for our other founder, Tommy, who thinks they’re for the New York Mets.

Pint can. Pours a dark copper color with a big foamy off-white head that has decent retention and ample lacing. The aroma is strong with pine, citrus and cotton candy. The taste is dominated by bitter pine, also some orange pith and a bit of candied ginger. The palate is full and sticky with medium carbonation. Finishes long and very bitter. Overall: not bad--but it seems to me they made this bitter just for bitters sake.

Pint on tap at Root Down at Denver Airport. Murky iced tea, nice sparkle and head with fair retention and rings of lacing. Aroma is pine, herb, malt backbone. Taste is stronger version of aroma. Smooth, med body, average carb, dry, yeasty, malty finish with light bitterness.

Sampled from a can. Pours a clear, light brown color, with a medium, bubbly, tan head. The nose is rye, resin, earth, and a bit of cocoa. Very bitter and surprisingly malty. Heavy body, with a crisp, sticky, and chewy mouthfeel. This is a pretty nice, malty DIPA. Interesting.

12 oz can poured. Purchased at Molly’s near Denver. Pours a thick cloudy orange color with a ton of foam head and lace. Light citrus hops aroma. Juicy citrus splash of flavor up front with a medium bitter hop finish. Thick creamy body to it. Cool late palate. Easy drinking double, quite refreshing.
