draft at the brewpub - Pours amber with a thin, lasting head that laces the glass nicely. It smells of caramel malt and ample hops. Their regular American Red is a very hoppy interpretation of the style and this amped up version is no different. Strong hops bitterness dominates the milder caramel malt in the flavor. The flavor of the hops seems a little lacking in complexity, but it’s still a very tasty brew. The bartender told me the abv was around 10. I’m not convinced it’s quite that high, but it’s up there and yet not very noticeable. Medium body, long, pleasantly bitter finish. Very good.
